Hard Landscaping

Hard landscaping involves all your structural and building works in the garden. This is always done first as it will give the garden shape and structure. It normally involves walls, paving, decking, water features and driveway finishing.

There are various types of wall construction which can create levels and retain ground and soil within your garden. Drystone walls give an authentic old look and feel. Jointed walls give a more modern look to your garden. Block and plaster walls tend to be used by those looking for a formal garden. Brick walls are used for gardens wanting to achieve a classical look.

Paving is used in gardens to provide areas for entertainment and social events such as barbeques and parties. Today paving can be done using many different types of stone depending on the colour, texture and quality that the owner is looking for. Some of the more popular paving used today includes indian sandstone, granite paving and lowig limestone. Some of the more unusual paving that Kevin has laid as part of the gardens he has worked on include york, turkish slate and chinese slate.

A must for many of todays gardens is a decking area. Decking creates a natural feel to your garden and has a softer look and feel to paving. The types of decking available include balue teak, cedar and pine. Some gardens include a water feature for sound effects and a focal point to the garden.

Finally, there are different types of drive edgings used to add shape to your driveway. These include brick edgings, granite sets, concrete kerbs and sandstone kerbs. Driveways can be finished using many different types of pebble finish such as Ballylusk chipping and River bed Pebbles to name just a few.
